One of the things I was a little sad about going into delivery was the visitor restriction policy in place at the hospital. Due to the swine flu, the hospital was only allowing 2 visitors at a time per patient and no one under the age of 14. I was hoping Josh would be able to come visit us and the new baby. Fortunately for us, the hospital lifted the visitor restrictions a few hours after she was born because of the decrease in swine flu patients they had been seeing in the last little while. So Josh got to come pick us up from the hospital and meet his new sister while we were still there.

When he first got there he was pretty excited to see me which made me happy. He was even more curious about the baby and spent a long time just looking at her. He kept saying "Bay" which is his name for her now and was very good about keeping his distance for their first meeting. I think she was equally curious about seeing him as she kept looking over and staring at him when he was close.

Since being home, Josh has been good for the most part. He asks for her first thing when he wakes up and gets very concerned about her if I move her when he's not looking. He tries to share his toys with her and feed her his food. (Both nice gestures, although not particularly good on my stress level.) He hasnt seemed to get to jealous yet and loves to sit by me and the baby on the couch and watch TV.

Tonight he was a little more naughty and attention seeking, so we will see how he does the next few days, but so far I think Josh is going to be a really great big brother and we've seen how caring his heart really is even at his young age.

Abby is a really good baby who loves to eat and sleep. Nights and days are a bit mixed up right now which is hard for my sleeping habits, but I expected that and I know it wont last forever. We are going to try and follow the advice found in a book called Baby Wise. It really helped with getting Josh on a schedule fairly early on so hopefully she will adjust too!
